Don Harmelin has devoted more than 30 years advising successful business owners, highly compensated executives and high net worth families on tax-efficient and flexible ways to control, protect, preserve and enhance family and philanthropic wealth. Don’s professional passion is raising awareness of the tax inefficiencies inherent in traditional estate planning. He is an educator and advocate for multi-generation family financial security.
Prior to founding Wealth Consultants, Inc. (WCI) more than 20 years ago, Don spent eight years as Vice-President Executive Compensation Planning at Shearson Lehman Holdings, Inc. Recognized for his creativity, broad product knowledge and in-depth technical skills, Don is relied upon by legal and accounting professionals to provide inter-disciplinary oversight on insurance related aspects of complex executive compensation and estate planning matters.
A graduate of the University of Oregon, Don Harmelin earned Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations from The American College. Don brings a unique perspective from a three-generation family tradition of more than 100 years in the life insurance and financial services profession. In his free time, Don enjoys swimming, tennis, and quality time with friends and family.
